MCU Returns with Falcon & the Winter Soldier

6 months after donning the Captain America mantle, Sam Wilson aka Falcon (Anthony Mackie) teams up with James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes aka the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), forming a mismatched duo in a global adventure that will test their survival skills — as well as their patience. Other past MCU/Captain America characters who return in this series include Agent Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp), Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl), and Georges Batroc (Georges St-Pierre).

James “Rhodey” Rhodes aka War Machine (Don Cheadle) also makes his first appearance since Avengers: Endgame. New characters will also be introduced into the story, with Wyatt Russell playing John F. Walker aka U.S. Agent, the government’s own choice to become the next Captain America; and Erin Kellyman playing Karli Morgenthau, leader of an anti-patriotism group called the “Flag Smashers.” Other characters in the story will be portrayed by Amy Aquino, Adepero Oduye, and Danny Ramirez among others.

Even though he was bequeathed by Steve Rogers his shield and identity as Captain America, Wilson’s journey will not be easy according to creator Malcolm Spellman, who also wrote the series “Empire.” Spellman promised a “conflict for a Black man confronting those stars and stripes” as well as a character who “emerge[s] from this story… a hero of the times and a hero of the people today.” Additionally, Spellman teased this: “What you think is happening after ‘Endgame’ is not what’s happening in this series.”
